Luke 9:61-62
61 Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first
say farewell to those at my home.”

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his
hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
In this passage, Christ is telling me that following Him is not easy. Plowing a field is some of the most difficult work a man can do. Even with the machinery that has been developed, plowing is still a long, often thankless job that leaves you dirty. A plowman has to concentrate on what he is doing or his lines will wander all over the field and it will take even longer to get the job done correctly. Just as when I am about God’s work, I should be spending my energy on what God has given me or I will wander aimlessly around the ministry field and get little done. If I hire a man to plow my field and after he takes the job, he decides it is too difficult and begins losing focus on what he is doing, then he is a poor plowman and not someone I want working on my project.
God wants me to love what I am doing in His service. If my mind constantly wanders because I would rather be doing something else, then I’m getting in the way instead of helping. My lesson here is to focus, even through my A.D.D.
Father, I pray that You have given me what I need to keep my focus tightly on the work You have given into my hands. Help me to complete it Your way, in love, in Jesus name I pray. Amen and Amen.
