The Kodesh Mishkan Ministry Group

Statement of Faith

Start Date: 22 January 2018

Finish Date: Open-ended

This course is required for all students, regardless of major or previous education.

Instructors: various members of the KMMG Presbytery

Synopsis:

The Chaplaincy model better explains Kodesh Mishkan Ministry Group’s subculture ministries than does the conventional “Pastor” model.

Chaplaincy is more “Jesus in an apron washing feet” than “Jesus at the Sermon on the Mount” or even “Jesus & Nicodemus”. St John Chrysostom used Jesus’ parable of The Good Samaritan {Luke 10:25-37} to explain his “Church as Hospital for Sick Souls” (rather than “Courtroom for Sinners”) model. KMMG is built upon the Hospitalier model.

That is to say, KMMG ministries are more evangelistic efforts than pastoral ones. We work with existing Churches, and minister to the needs of the lost. We hope those blessed by our ministries will find a “Church Home” in one of our Partner Churches, rather than establishing more churches, which tends toward competitive “poaching” behavior rather than evangelism.

By NOT having brick-and-mortar Churches, nor their expenses, KMMG ministers can attend to the Spiritual needs without these self-interest conflicts. We can do extensive ministry on shoestring budgets.

Chaplaincy differs greatly from traditional Pastoral ministry. The goal of this course is to help the student discern the differences and effectively adapt to the unique requirements of subculture ministry.
